Dr. Edward Bach’s 38 flower remedies were originally prepared as flower essences of wild plants, bushes and trees in Wales in the early 1900s, and none are harmful or habit-forming. All the “original Bach remedies™” are prepared using homeopathic amplification. This Healing Herbs’ 5 flower remedy is prepared Bach’s way, as a combination of flower essences, not homeopathically diluted. Some consider this remedy more effective than “Rescue Remedy™.
Bach made only one composite remedy: he named it rescue remedy. It contains; Cherry Plum, Clematis, Impatiens, Rock Rose and Star of Bethlehem. This is an all-purpose tincture to alleviate the mental, emotional, physical and/or spiritual effects of shock, trauma and anguish. These emotions may be experienced in mild to extreme degrees, recently or in years past. People find this tincture immediately comforting, calming, and reassuring. It need not be reserved for emergencies: it eases all types of distress. The more traumatized one is by an event, the more obvious the remedy’s effect.
Although Bach was primarily considering people’s needs as he developed these remedies, all beings can benefit from it. Dogs will lick it right out of your hand. Dogs (or other pets) who are fearful or who have been ‘rescued’ often greatly benefit from this remedy.
Cats also respond well to this remedy. Arguably, its most demonstrable effect for cats is to alleviate shock after an accident. Cats are particularly susceptible to shock, and thus are prone to dying from the shock alone. If they can be helped to survive that initial shock, they often survive their injuries. 5 flower formula really shines in such situations. It is also relevant for other less severe traumas. Just add it to your animal’s water. Even plants can benefit, especially after transplanting.
Dose is not varied by the recipient’s size or weight. A horse, human and toy poodle would all take the same dose! Unlike herbs this is a vibrational remedy, not a mass-based remedy. Increasing the frequency, not amount, of administration is key.
Administration: The 5-flower formula is primarily taken orally, 4 drops in water or directly in the mouth, as often as needed, but at least 4 times a day. For severe or acute traumas take it 4 times a day, and then again, EVERY TIME you are feeling distressed, until your feelings of distress subside. This could be many times a day. There is no maximum daily dose. Remember, it is the frequency of using the remedy, not the volume that provides the greatest relief.
Hold the tincture in the mouth for 10-30 seconds before swallowing. It is primarily absorbed in the mouth. Avoid contaminating the dropper by touching anything with it – especially teeth or lips. Bacteria will grow readily in this remedy!
If a person is unable to take anything orally – then consider moistening their lips, temples, palms, wrists or behind their ears with this tincture, so they too can receive its benefit. Furthermore, 5 flower essence can be applied externally to any affected area if the tissue is injured but the skin unbroken. 5 flower formula can be taken by people of any age, even infants. There is no danger of over-dose or side effects, and no harm will come if taken by someone without any complaints. This is an alcohol-based tincture. It can be made with apple cider vinegar.
Do not store next to large appliances like stoves or fridges.
Avoid taking through airport security scanners as this may reduce the effect of the remedy.
DO realize, that when you’re traumatized, you will likely NOT even think of using this remedy! This is why I suggest you tell someone close to you about this remedy soon, once you know it works for you, and ask them to remind you to take it, when you’re going through a tough time. We all forget to take it, in times of stress!
